Alan Wake 2 developers want to become “Europe's Naughty Dog”

Remedy Entertainment's ambition: to become the European Naughty Dog. Inspired by Naughty Dog's cinematic masterpieces like the Uncharted series, Remedy's Director Kyle Rowley, in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, revealed their aspiration to be "the European counterpart" of the iconic studio. This influence is clearly visible in the cinematic approach to Alan Wake 2, a game praised for its stunning visuals and gripping narrative. The game's success has cemented Remedy's place as a leading European game developer.

Rowley highlighted how this inspiration shaped both Quantum Break and Alan Wake 2. The goal extends beyond the horror genre; Naughty Dog's dominance in single-player cinematic experiences, particularly with Uncharted and the critically acclaimed, award-winning The Last of Us franchise, serves as a benchmark.

Alan Wake 2, even over a year post-launch, continues to receive updates. A recent update focuses on enhancing gameplay across all platforms, most notably optimizing performance for the PS5 Pro. A new "Balanced" graphics option is introduced, merging the strengths of the PS5 Pro Performance and Quality modes. These improvements, alongside minor graphical tweaks for smoother framerates and reduced image noise, also address minor bugs, particularly within the Lake House expansion.
