Zynga Adds Letter Lock to Words With Friends

Zynga has introduced a new feature called Letter Lock for its popular game Words With Friends. This highly anticipated solo mode has finally arrived, along with several other exciting updates. Read on to discover all the details.

What Is Letter Lock in Words With Friends?

Letter Lock is a daily single-player puzzle. Instead of typing words as you do in Wordle, you slide columns of letters up and down to form valid words in the entry row.

Successfully creating words unlocks additional columns, allowing you to form longer terms. The challenge continues until you reach the puzzle's target word length. Each incorrect guess costs you one of your hearts, and running out of hearts will end the puzzle.

While Letter Lock differs from Wordle in gameplay, it offers a similar appeal: quick, clever, and engaging daily word puzzles. Check out the trailer below to see Letter Lock in action.

Keeping the Game Experience Fresh

According to Yaron Leyvand, executive vice president of mobile games at Zynga, the new feature responds to long-time player demand. Introducing fresh gameplay mechanics helps sustain engagement and supports the game's ongoing growth.

Alongside Letter Lock, Zynga is launching a Spring into Words event, packed with daily puzzles and various challenges. Solo players can enjoy modes like Guess Word and Crosswords, and earn spring-themed rewards, exclusive Tile Styles, and participate in special events.
