Nvidia's DLSS 4: 8X Performance Boost with Multi-Frame Generation

Nvidia revolutionizes gaming at CES 2025 with the launch of DLSS 4, exclusively for the GeForce RTX 50 Series. This groundbreaking technology introduces Multi-Frame Generation, boosting performance by up to 8X and enabling 4K gaming at 240 FPS with full ray tracing.

DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), Nvidia's AI-powered image enhancement technology, has consistently improved gaming visuals and performance over the past six years. DLSS 4 builds upon this legacy, leveraging Tensor Cores for superior upscaling and reduced hardware demands. A key innovation is the integration of transformer-based AI models for real-time rendering, resulting in sharper images, improved temporal stability, and fewer visual artifacts.

GeForce RTX 50 Series and Multi-Frame Generation:

The magic behind the 8X performance boost lies in Multi-Frame Generation. This feature generates up to three additional frames for each rendered frame, significantly reducing the load on the GPU. New AI models accelerate frame generation by 40%, decrease VRAM usage by 30%, and optimize rendering processes for greater efficiency. Hardware enhancements like Flip Metering and upgraded Tensor Cores ensure smooth frame pacing and high-resolution support. Games like Warhammer 40,000: Darktide already showcase the benefits of these improvements. DLSS 4 also incorporates Ray Reconstruction and Super Resolution, further refining visuals, especially in ray-traced scenes.

Backward Compatibility and Wide Game Support:

DLSS 4's enhancements are backward compatible, benefiting both current and future RTX users. At launch, 75 games and applications will support Multi-Frame Generation, with over 50 titles utilizing the new transformer-based models. Major titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 will have native support. Nvidia's application even includes an Override feature to enable Multi-Frame Generation and other enhancements for older DLSS integrations.
