Marvel Rivals Shader Optimization: Launch Speed Boost

Author : Lillian Update : Jan 18,2025

Many Marvel Rivals players are experiencing frustratingly long shader compilation times on launch. This guide offers a solution to speed up the process and eliminate the "Out of VRAM memory" error.

Addressing Slow Shader Compilation in Marvel Rivals

Game loading times can vary, especially for online titles. However, Marvel Rivals PC players are reporting significant delays (several minutes) due to shader compilation. Shaders are crucial programs managing aspects like color and lighting in 3D environments. Even with correct installation, this issue persists. Fortunately, a community-discovered workaround exists.

A Marvel Rivals subreddit user, Recent-Smile-4946, shared a solution that significantly reduces compilation time. Follow these steps:

  1. Access your Nvidia Control Panel.
  2. Locate the global settings.
  3. Adjust the Shader Cache Size to a value less than or equal to your VRAM. (Note: Options are limited to 5GB, 10GB, and 100GB; select the closest option to your VRAM.)

This method reportedly reduces compilation time to mere seconds and resolves the "Out of VRAM memory" error.

While a permanent fix from NetEase is pending, this workaround provides an immediate solution to avoid extended loading times. Until an official patch is released, this is a recommended approach.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
