Xbox MindsEye Update Delayed for Refinements

MindsEye, the highly anticipated action-adventure game from Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies, launches today across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. However, Xbox players face a delay in receiving the crucial day-one patch essential for optimal performance.
Xbox Patch Delayed Due to Certification
Developer Build A Rocket Boy confirmed via Reddit that Xbox platforms won't receive the 16GB update immediately due to platform certification differences. The studio strongly recommends this patch for the intended gameplay experience, noting it contains "key refinements including gameplay improvements, visual enhancements, stability fixes, and performance optimization."
The developer stated, "The patch will be available on Xbox as soon as possible," though couldn't provide an exact timeframe. This update previously prompted the studio to urge players to wait for official release rather than playing early unpatched copies, after negative feedback about technical issues surfaced.
Controversy Surrounds Pre-release Criticism
Build A Rocket Boy's concern about "bias" stemmed from co-CEO Mark Gerhard's claims about coordinated negative campaigns. When questioned, IO Interactive's Hakan Abrak responded: "The game should speak for itself upon release."
Evolution from Planned Episodic Content
MindsEye underwent significant development changes, originally conceived as episodic content for the abandoned Everywhere platform. The final release focuses on its narrative-driven campaign, with former metaverse elements taking a secondary role.
Players assume the role of Jacob Diaz, a psychologically damaged ex-military drone pilot investigating traumatic events connected to his neural implant technology. The game blends action sequences with psychological storytelling, offering world-building tools from the Everywhere project for creative customization.
