The inZOI development team has confirmed that Denuvo DRM will be taken out of the game. Over the past day, multiple sources reported that the demo for Creative Studio mode contained the anti-tamper software. Denuvo's use in games has long been a point of contention, with many players and experts claiming it can impact performance.

This digital rights management and anti-tamper technology is intended to stop unauthorized copying and sharing of PC games, making it harder for individuals to pirate and distribute cracked versions.

In a Steam blog post on March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim responded to player concerns, confirming that the Early Access version launching on Friday will not include any DRM technology. "Our initial decision to use Denuvo was meant to safeguard the game from illegal distribution. We thought it would help protect the investment of players who bought the game legitimately. However, after carefully reviewing community input, we recognized that this decision was not in line with what our players expect." Kjun explained.

He also expressed regret for not notifying players beforehand about Denuvo’s presence in the Creative Studio mode. Kjun acknowledged that while removing DRM could lead to a higher risk of piracy, it would allow inZOI to be fully configurable, offering players greater freedom to tailor and build their own gameplay. He added, "We are convinced that granting this level of freedom from the start will foster innovation and lasting engagement within the community."

inZOI’s Commitment to Extensive Modding

inZOI has consistently emphasized the central role of modding, which made the initial inclusion of Denuvo confusing for many, since the software can obstruct player-led modifications and custom content.

Kjun stressed, "As shared during the Online Showcase, we are dedicated to ensuring inZOI is highly moddable. The first phase of official mod support will go live in May, letting players use tools such as Maya and Blender to design their own content. This is just the starting point. We intend to gradually broaden mod support to cover more aspects of the game, enabling you to personalize and improve your experience in numerous ways."

He mentioned that a dedicated post with further modding details will be shared soon. Krafton remains focused on putting players first, incorporating community feedback and making necessary changes to deliver a high-quality experience.

inZOI is scheduled to enter Early Access on March 28, 2025, for PC. The full launch will extend to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. At the time of writing, a specific release date for the full version has not been announced.
