Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Public Test Server Launches with Major Update 7.0 Changes

Author : Ethan Update : Jun 14,2025

The first public test server for *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2* is now live, offering players an early glimpse into the highly anticipated Update 7.0 and its associated patch notes. According to a recent community update from publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive, the current PTS (Public Test Server) version includes most of the features slated for the final 7.0 release.

However, the development team cautions that the final patch notes may still differ as they continue refining gameplay and addressing bugs. Despite this, there's already a wealth of content to explore for PC players participating in the PTS—console players will have to wait their turn.

What’s New in Update 7.0?

Update 7.0 introduces several exciting additions to the game. Among them is a new PvE mission titled Exfiltration, which adds fresh tactical challenges to the campaign. Players can also look forward to a brand-new secondary weapon: the Inferno Pistol, available to Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes in both PvP and PvE modes.

For endgame enthusiasts, Update 7.0 brings Prestige Ranks to PvE, allowing seasoned players to showcase their progression beyond the maximum level. Additionally, Private PvP Lobbies are now available, giving players more control over custom matches and competitive play.

Customization Enhancements

Fans of Warhammer lore will appreciate the expanded customization options. Two new color schemes—Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue—have been added to the palette. The Bulwark cloth and hands can now be recolored, and players earn 50% more customization rewards in PvP matches.

Exclusive skins have also been introduced on the PTS, including the Imperial Fists Champion Skin for Tactical Marines and the Space Wolves Champion Skin for Vanguard units, adding even more flair to player appearances.

Balance Changes and Gameplay Improvements

One of the major updates involves the expansion of weapon choices across all classes in PvE. Notably, the Assault class can now wield the Power Sword without requiring any modifications—a long-awaited change that should improve melee versatility.

A particularly welcome tweak addresses persistent griefing issues during the Inferno Operation. If one player reaches the assembly area during the final stage, others will now be automatically teleported after a short delay (with a 90-second countdown followed by a 15-second teleport). This prevents players from stalling progress indefinitely and ensures smoother co-op experiences.

Community Engagement and Future Plans

Last month, the development team teased the arrival of Horde mode while distancing themselves from “FOMO-driven” live service mechanics. Earlier in the year, Saber addressed concerns regarding a lack of substantial content and outlined a roadmap detailing what players could expect moving forward.
