Proxi Details Revealed: The Sims Creator's Latest

Will Wright, the mastermind behind The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his innovative AI life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This highly anticipated title, initially announced in 2018, is finally taking shape, with Gallium Studio revealing more information. Proxi promises a deeply personal gaming experience.

A Game Forged From Memories

The livestream, hosted by BreakthroughT1D (a leading T1D research organization), featured Wright discussing Proxi's core mechanics. The game leverages AI to transform players' personal memories – entered as text – into animated scenes within a unique 3D environment. Players can customize these scenes using in-game assets for a more accurate representation of their recollections.

Each memory, termed a "mem," enhances the game's AI, expanding the player's "mind world," a navigable 3D space composed of hexagons. As the mind world grows, it populates with Proxies representing friends and family, allowing players to arrange memories chronologically and connect them to specific Proxies. Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds, such as Minecraft and Roblox!

Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on creating "magical connections" with memories, bringing them to life in a unique and engaging way. This personal approach stems from Wright's belief that a game's success often hinges on its ability to resonate deeply with the player's own experiences. He humorously noted, "No game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players," highlighting the game's inherently personal nature.
