Netflix Unveils First MMO: Spirit Crossing Launching Soon

Netflix is venturing into the realm of massively multiplayer online (MMO) games with its latest announcement at GDC 2025: Spirit Crossing. Developed by the acclaimed Spry Fox, known for their cozy life-sims like Cozy Grove and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, this game promises to deliver an experience characterized by warm pastel visuals, soothing music, and a strong focus on fostering connections rather than competition.

Here’s What We Know About Netflix's Spirit Crossing

In Spirit Crossing, players will immerse themselves in a vast world where they can explore, build, and decorate homes, and cultivate a thriving village with fellow players. Activities include gathering resources, riding on adorable fluffy creatures, participating in dance parties, and simply enjoying the company of friends. The game's design draws visual inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and even the modern art style of Corporate Memphis, aiming to create a timeless and inviting atmosphere where players feel at home for years.

A unique aspect of Spirit Crossing is its in-game calendar system, which influences the game's progression. For instance, planting trees will require patience, as they take three to six real-world months to grow into a harvestable orchard. This slow-paced, long-term design echoes Spry Fox's successful experiments in Cozy Grove.

The core of Spry Fox's philosophy, as emphasized by studio co-founder David Edery, revolves around creating meaningful connections. Spirit Crossing aims to be a space where strangers can become friends, aligning with the studio's long-held vision.

Netflix has just released an enchanting trailer for Spirit Crossing, offering a glimpse into its charming world. Why not take a moment to watch it?
