Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remake Teases Major Gameplay Overhaul

A purported remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, developed by Virtuos Studio using Unreal Engine 5, has been detailed by MP1st. The information, reportedly sourced from an anonymous developer's portfolio, suggests a significant departure from a simple remaster.

The project reportedly involves a complete reimagining of Oblivion. This includes overhauls to core mechanics such as stamina, stealth, blocking, archery, damage feedback, and the user interface. The blocking system, for instance, is said to be inspired by Soulslike games, addressing criticisms of the original's underwhelming implementation. Damage calculations have also been reworked to include visible impact reactions, and stamina management is expected to be more intuitive. The UI and archery systems will also receive modernizations.

MP1st speculates that the project's scope expanded from an initial remaster (as hinted at in leaked Microsoft documents) to a full-scale remake.

While sources confirmed the Oblivion remake won't appear at the upcoming Developer_Direct, rumors suggest a potential release within the year.
