Bloodmoon Island is a mysterious region located to the north of Reaper's Coast. This island is isolated from the mainland by a deadly shroud of Deathfog, and the only bridge connecting it to the coast has been destroyed, making it seemingly unreachable by conventional means. Exploring Bloodmoon Island not only thickens the main plot but also unlocks additional side quests.

However, the game doesn't offer enough hints on how to navigate past the Deathfog and reach Bloodmoon Island, leading players to search all over Reaper's Coast for clues. Here are all the ways to reach Bloodmoon Island and progress the story in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

It appears that Bloodmoon Island was once connected to the Reaper's Coast mainland by a bridge, now destroyed, which prevents access to the island. The bridge is located northeast of Cloisterwood, closer to Jahan's and Witch Alice's locations.

Upon reaching the bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. To proceed, cast Spirit Vision to reveal the broken sections of the bridge. The bridge is segmented, with some parts trapped, making crossing it challenging. However, with the right skills or items, navigating this spirit bridge becomes manageable:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired in the first act, these gloves allow you to cast the teleportation skill without learning it. Though tedious, you can use them to teleport each companion across the bridge.
  2. Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation, which is useful for crossing the broken bridge. However, not all companions may have these skills, so consider the next option.
  3. Teleporter Pyramids: The game includes four Teleporter Pyramids, special artifacts for warping between them. To cross the bridge, you'll need two pyramids. Place one in a companion's inventory who can use translocation skills to cross the bridge. Once they reach the other side, the rest of the party can warp to their location.
  4. Fast Travel: Alternatively, a companion with translocation skills can cross the bridge, discover the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel there without crossing the bridge.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

While the strategies mentioned above should help you reach Bloodmoon Island easily, parties with Fane as a companion have an additional method. Fane, being undead, is immune to the Deathfog, making him the only character who can safely cross it.

Northwest of Cloisterwood, you'll find a pier with an undead ferryman who promises to help your party cross the Deathfog safely to Bloodmoon Island. However, this is more of a trick than a promise, resulting in everyone but Fane dying during the crossing. If Fane takes the ferry alone, he'll reach Bloodmoon Island unharmed. He can then discover the waypoint, allowing the rest of the party to fast travel to it.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

If your party doesn't include Fane but you still want to use the ferry to cross the Deathfog, you'll need at least two Teleporter Pyramids:

  1. Unchain the party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion taking the ferry.
  2. The companion will die upon reaching Bloodmoon Island's pier.
  3. With the rest of the party chained, use the second pyramid to warp to the dead companion.
  4. Use a resurrection spell or scroll to revive the companion.

If your party doesn't include Fane, it's recommended to take the bridge as it's the quickest way to reach Bloodmoon Island.

Avoid attacking the Undead Ferryman, as he can retaliate with a Deathfog spell, instantly killing anyone in its range. If you decide to take the risk, quick save your game before attacking. Defeating and looting his body will yield a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
