"Deadlock Now Three Lanes in Major Update"
Deadlock has unveiled a significant update that transforms its gameplay by reducing the number of lanes from four to three. This major overhaul, announced after months of anticipation, aims to streamline the game's map structure and enhance other key features. Dive in to discover the full scope of these changes and what they mean for Deadlock's future.
Deadlock Announced Major Update In Months
Four-lane Map Becomes Three Lanes
In a move that reshapes the game's landscape, Deadlock's latest update announced on February 26, 2025, via Steam, converts its four lanes into three. This change is part of a broader map rework that includes a variety of enhancements such as updated visuals, revised building layouts, new pathways, neutral camps, air vents, breakables, powerup buffs, juke spots, and a revamped mid boss. Deadlock, known for its unique third-person perspective in the MOBA genre, aims to simplify and enhance gameplay with this adjustment.
Moreover, the update introduces changes to the farming mechanics. Players will no longer need to last-hit enemy troopers to summon Soul Orbs, easing the early laning phases. The patch notes also highlight improvements in the game's netcode and client performance, promising a smoother experience for players.
Vital Update for Deadlock
This pivotal update could be the catalyst needed to reinvigorate Deadlock's player base. After experiencing a significant surge in player count in September 2024, reaching an all-time peak of 171,490 players, the game saw a sharp decline, with only around 17,000 players active last month.
In response to community feedback and development needs, Valve Developer Yoshi announced in January 2025 via the Deadlock Discord server a shift in their update strategy. Yoshi explained, "Going forward, major patches will no longer be on a fixed schedule. These patches will be larger than before, albeit a little bit more spaced out, and hotfixes will continue to be released as needed. We look forward to fleshing out the game in the new year."
Currently, Deadlock remains in active development and playtesting, accessible only through friend invites. While no official release date has been set, the game continues to evolve. For the latest updates and more information on Deadlock, visit our dedicated page.
