Author : Joshua Update : Mar 29,2025

If you're diving into the *Roblox* game *Build Defense*, you're in for an exciting mix of construction and survival. While it might seem similar to *Minecraft* at first, *Build Defense* actually echoes the original *Fortnite*—remember that classic? No? Well, regardless of its inspirations, *Build Defense* offers a thrilling experience, but it can be overwhelming for beginners. That's why we've crafted this Beginner's Guide to smooth your journey through the game.

Build Defense Beginner's Guide

------------------------------

Below, we'll share some essential tips that we wish we had known from the start. Implementing these strategies not only made the game more enjoyable but also accelerated our progress.

The object of the game is to survive…

When you're dropped into your world and onto your plot of land, you might think the goal is to protect your plot. Not quite! **The real objective is to survive, or simply put, not to die.** The game will throw various threats at you, from monster attacks to natural disasters like tornados and bombs, and even alien invasions. Your best bet is to **fortify your plot with a defensive structure**, but if things get too hairy, **you can always roam the world until the danger passes**—a tactic that's surprisingly effective. **Each survival earns you a "Win" and some in-game currency**, which is crucial for progression. So, keep an eye on those screen messages and focus on staying alive.

… dying is completely normal

**Don't fret if you die.** It's a common occurrence in *Build Defense*, and the consequences are minimal. You'll respawn immediately, lose your items, and fail the current wave, but that's about it. **You can repurchase your weapons and items**, and **your structures remain intact** despite the chaos. New attack waves come every two minutes, giving you plenty of chances to redeem yourself. Essentially, **you're only losing a bit of time**, which isn't a big deal.

Build high, not low

We initially thought surrounding our plot with walls would suffice, but it didn't hold up well. Monsters found ways in through our entry and exit points. A more effective strategy is to **construct a tall staircase leading to a high platform**. When night falls, you can retreat to this safe haven. Monsters attempting to climb will often fall, and those who reach the top can be met with **a barrage of turrets**. This setup is nearly foolproof and will help you survive most nights.

Don’t just build, explore!

There's much more to do on the island than just managing your plot. **You can visit other players, trade ores, and embark on quests**. While most quests require a certain number of Wins to unlock, some, like the **Gingerbread's House quest**, are available from the start. Completing these quests can unlock exciting new building components, enhancing your gameplay experience.

The “Shop” isn’t just for premium items

As you advance in the game, don't overlook the Shop. **Most items can be purchased with in-game currency**, but you'll need to accumulate some Wins first. So, play the game a bit before exploring the Shop. Also, remember to join the Swiftplay Roblox group and to like, favorite, and follow the game for a free gift.

When you’re ready, move to the next area

Once you've earned 190 Wins, you can transition to the next area and start the cycle anew. You'll encounter new disasters, quests, and building opportunities.

**That's the gist of it. Enjoy surviving and building in *Build Defense*. Don't forget to check out our *Build Defense* codes for some cool in-game freebies.**
