Unlocking Chapter Select requires completing one of the game's true endings. This involves three playthroughs, each revealing a part of the overarching narrative. Some players refer to these playthroughs as chapters. The final playthrough involves switching between multiple characters. Upon completing this final playthrough and seeing the credits, Chapter Select will be unlocked for that save file. Remember to save your game after seeing the credits before starting the next playthrough.

How Chapter Select Works in NieR: Automata

Access the Chapter Select menu in two ways:

• From the main menu when loading a save file.
• From any access point in the game world.

This menu allows you to select any chapter from the main story. Your progress, including weapons, level, and items, carries over. You can also choose the character you wish to play as, provided that character was involved in that specific chapter.
