Smite 2 Free-to-Play Launch Date Announced Alongside New Character
Smite 2's Open Beta Launches January 14th with Aladdin and More!
Get ready, Smite fans! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, enters its free-to-play open beta on January 14th, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, promising a revamped experience for both veterans and newcomers.
This launch date brings more than just open access; it also introduces Aladdin, the first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon, as a playable character. Aladdin, a Magical Assassin and Jungler, will add a unique dimension to the gameplay with his wall-running and lamp-trapping abilities.
The open beta will also feature a selection of familiar faces from the original Smite, including Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni, though with updated skill sets to keep things fresh. Expect a significantly expanded roster, growing to nearly 50 Gods by the end of January 2025, up from the 14 available during the Alpha.
New Game Modes and Features:
The open beta will introduce exciting new game modes:
- Joust (3v3): An Arthurian-themed map featuring Teleporters and Stealth Grass for strategic gameplay.
- Duel (1v1): Utilizing the same map as Joust, offering intense one-on-one battles.
A groundbreaking new feature, "Aspects," will allow players to modify their Gods' abilities, trading a specific trait for a powerful bonus. For example, Athena could sacrifice her ally-shielding teleport for a foe-weakening one. Twenty Gods will initially feature Aspects, with more to come.
Quality-of-life improvements are also on the agenda, including Role Guides for new players, PC text chat, enhanced item stores, and detailed death recaps.
Esports Debut:
The excitement doesn't stop there! The first Smite 2 esports tournament finale will take place at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17th to 19th.
Smite 2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Prepare for battle!
