R.E.P.O Console Release: What to Expect

*R.E.P.O.*, the gripping co-op horror game that launched in February, has taken the PC gaming world by storm, amassing over 200,000 players. However, fans eagerly awaiting a console version may be disappointed to learn that *R.E.P.O.* is currently a PC-exclusive title, and there's no indication that this will change anytime soon. The game's developer, semiwork, has remained silent on the prospect of a console release, focusing instead on refining the game's multiplayer experience.

One of the significant challenges semiwork faces is enhancing the multiplayer mechanics without making *R.E.P.O.* susceptible to cheating. The developer has openly discussed the dilemma of implementing an anti-cheat system, which could potentially disrupt the experience for players who use mods. "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you're ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don't work with an anti-cheat system. And we don't want that," the developer explained, as reported by PCGamer. This issue must be resolved before any consideration of a console port can be entertained.

While some PC-only games like *Mouthwashing* have made the leap to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the transition. Similarly, games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which share *R.E.P.O.*'s theme of evading monsters, have also stayed exclusive to PC. Last year, the developers of *Content Warning* mentioned they were exploring a console release but were hindered by technical challenges. Since then, no further updates on a console version have been shared.

In conclusion, *R.E.P.O.*'s developer has not shown any interest in bringing the game to consoles, prioritizing the improvement of the PC version's multiplayer features instead. For now, console players will have to sit tight and keep their fingers crossed for future updates.
