Jacksepticeye's Secret Soma Animated Show Project Collapses Unexpectedly
YouTuber Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán William McLoughlin, recently shared his disappointment in a video titled 'A Bad Month,' revealing that he spent a year working on a Soma animated show, only for the project to fall apart unexpectedly, leaving him "quite upset."
Soma, a critically acclaimed survival horror science fiction game developed by Frictional Games, was released in 2015. Jacksepticeye, a long-time fan of the game, streamed it extensively upon its release and considers it one of his top favorite video games. His passion for Soma led him to collaborate with the developers for a year to bring an animated show to life.

In his video, Jacksepticeye discussed a challenging creative period marked by the cancellation or stagnation of various projects. He disclosed his involvement with the Soma animated show, expressing his excitement and the progress they had made before it abruptly ended. He mentioned that an unnamed party decided to take the project "in a different direction," which led to its collapse. Jacksepticeye chose not to delve into the specifics due to his emotional distress over the situation.
The cancellation of the Soma animated show significantly disrupted Jacksepticeye's plans for 2025, leaving him uncertain about his priorities and future projects. He had anticipated dedicating much of his time to the show, which would have allowed him to share a significant creative endeavor with his audience. The sudden halt left him feeling frustrated and with nothing to show for his efforts.
Following Soma's release, Frictional Games continued to expand the Amnesia series with 2020's Amnesia: Rebirth and 2023's Amnesia: The Bunker. In July 2023, Frictional's creative director, Thomas Grip, mentioned the company's intention to move away from solely horror-themed games to explore other emotional experiences, emphasizing immersive fantasy over traditional horror elements.
