Halo Infinite Update Boosts Xbox FPS: Relaunch Campaign Urged

Author : Victoria Update : May 14,2025

The "Summer 2025 Update" for Halo Infinite, available until June 10, is now live and brimming with exciting new content. This update introduces new playlists, the powerful Mutilator weapon, sandbox enhancements, additional Forge tools, and an expanded array of weapons on the Weapon Bench. Players can also enjoy 50 more tiers, four new armor sets, bonus XP, and an extra challenge slot by upgrading to the Premium Operation Pass.

Despite these additions, opinions on Halo Infinite remain divided. The game has undergone significant changes since its launch, including the rebranding of its developer from 343 Industries to Halo Studios. This shift came in response to a sharp decline in player numbers, attributed to a lack of content, ineffective progression systems, controversial monetization, and the cancellation of a highly anticipated battle royale mode.

However, some fans believe Halo Infinite has never been better. In a Reddit thread titled "Halo Infinite REALLY should do a 'relaunch' ad campaign. It's just not the same game as at launch. Not even close," one enthusiast expressed enthusiasm about the game's evolution: "I can't imagine anyone who likes Halo but hasn't given this game a chance, or haven't played since launch, would be disappointed coming back. The additions and changes are substantial."

They highlighted the introduction of three new guns, numerous new maps, various firefight modes, and an abundance of items to unlock and grind for. The fan suggested that a comprehensive trailer showcasing these updates could significantly boost the game's reputation and attract both old and new players. They also listed an array of new features including new equipment, guns, maps, game modes, armor pieces, an improved free credit shop, expanded ranked playlists, career rank progression, and a robust Forge mode with custom games and AI integration.

Echoing this sentiment, another user stated, "I wholeheartedly agree, the game is easily the best game since [Halo 3] and the best 343 has produced. Just took a while to get here, but I never left, so it’s been fun to watch play out." A third user added, "Multiplayer-wise, it's the best Halo ever made," while another shared, "I have a buddy who wrote it off pretty early and hasn’t come back. He’s already trashing the game, and I try telling him it’s solid now, but he doesn’t want to hear it."

In a different thread, a fan reflected on an iconic image from Halo Infinite's marketing campaign and shared their positive experience with the game: "I really love Infinite. Been playing since about halfway through Season 1. Revitalized my love for a series I stopped playing during Halo 4’s lifespan. Has the best Spartan customization and I also really like that different modes are constantly in rotation, custom games is fun, campaign is fun; unique but fun; music is a banger."

They praised the fluid gameplay, blending classic elements with modern upgrades, and expressed optimism about the game's future, stating, "Infinite has my favorite gameplay overall. The game has outgrown the shell of its release and has only gotten better with time. I’m optimistic about what’s on the way and I really think Infinite is one of my favorites in the series!" Another user agreed, calling Halo Infinite "the best arena shooter on Xbox right now" and expressing a desire for similar gameplay in other titles like COD.

However, not all feedback was positive. One less enthused fan remarked, "This image represents the last little bit of hope I had. I genuinely think Halo’s time is over, the people who understood how to make the magic happen are all scattered and gone."

IGN's review of Halo Infinite's single-player campaign back in 2021 was highly positive, awarding it a 9/10 and stating, "Halo Infinite's single-player campaign is exactly what this series needed. It brings out the best in Master Chief's unique and satisfying combat style while leveraging old ideas to create memorable new moments. Its story falls short for both new and veteran players, but it was worth the six-year wait."

With Microsoft’s multiplatform strategy in motion, some Xbox fans are speculating about Halo Infinite potentially making its way to PlayStation, following the likes of Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War. Microsoft’s gaming chief, Phil Spencer, has indicated that there are no "red lines" in its first-party lineup, hinting at possible future expansions.
