Should You Free or Leave Ilora?
In a role-playing game, it's essential to play according to your character's traits and story. However, in Avowed, it's highly recommended to free Ilora. This choice not only makes navigating Fort Northreach easier but also unlocks a side quest later in the game.
What Happens If You Free Ilora in Avowed?
By freeing Ilora, you gain a valuable ally who assists in defeating enemies on the island, including the area's boss, Steadman Ralke. Early in Avowed, your character is not at full strength, lacking superior weapons and armor. Ilora's help significantly eases the challenges you face. Furthermore, freeing her leads to a side quest called "Escape Plan" later in the game, which becomes much simpler with her assistance.
How to Free Ilora
To free Ilora, head to the Warden’s Room, where she says the key to her cell is located. Navigate to the end of the hallway, climb the crates, and jump to the adjacent platform. Enter the passageway above, break through the boards on your right to access the Warden’s Room, and grab the key near the door. Use this key to open not only Ilora's cell but also the adjacent cell to obtain the Deerskin Gloves.
What Happens If You Don’t Free Ilora in Avowed?
Choosing not to free Ilora makes Fort Northreach significantly more challenging, and it complicates the "Escape Plan" quest later on. Additionally, Ilora doesn't remain imprisoned; you'll have to confront and fight her, making your escape from Fort Northreach even harder. On the flip side, defeating her allows you to loot her body, providing you with additional items as a reward for this tougher path.
And that’s the rundown on whether or not you should free Ilora in Avowed.
