As you delve deeper into the world of *Avowed*, you'll inevitably face tougher adversaries. To keep up in combat, upgrading your gear to match or exceed enemy levels is crucial. Here's your comprehensive guide on how to upgrade weapons and armor in *Avowed*.

Where to Upgrade Weapons and Armor in Avowed

In *Avowed*, enhancing your weapons and armor is done at the Workbench, as shown above. Each upgrade requires specific materials, which vary based on the type of item and its Quality. While most materials are readily available or can be crafted within the game world, upgrading from one Quality to another demands progressively rarer forms of Adra.

You can find Workbenches at Party Camps, which you can establish at any Adra Waystone you encounter in the game world. To set up a Party Camp, interact with an Adra Waystone and choose the option to establish a camp. Once set up, these locations will be marked on your map with a tent icon, allowing you to fast travel to them conveniently.

How Weapon and Armor Leveling Works in Avowed

In *Avowed*, the power level of weapons and armor is determined by two main factors: Quality and additional upgrades. Quality is denoted by a numerical value, color rarity, and an adjective describing the item's tier. The numerical value and color rarity directly correlate with the level of enemies you'll encounter in the Living Lands. Here’s the breakdown of weapon qualities in *Avowed*:

  • Common Quality – Green, Level I
  • Fine Quality – Blue, Level II
  • Exceptional – Purple, Level III
  • Superb – Red, Level IV
  • Legendary – Gold, Level V

When your gear's Quality is lower than that of your enemies, your weapons will deal less damage and your armor will offer less protection. However, your gear provides bonuses when fighting enemies of the same or lower level, making it essential to keep your equipment up to date with enemy progression. Within each Quality, you can further enhance your gear through three additional upgrade tiers, marked as +0 through +3. These upgrades incrementally boost the stats of your weapons and armor, though they won't be as impactful as increasing Quality. You must complete all three additional upgrades before you can elevate the item to the next Quality.

Avowed Weapon and Armor Additional Upgrades Explained

Within each Quality tier, weapons and armor can receive three additional upgrades. These are designated as +0 through +3 and enhance the stats of your gear, albeit less dramatically than a Quality increase. It's important to max out these upgrades before attempting to upgrade to a higher Quality.

Which Weapons and Armor Should You Upgrade in Avowed?

In *Avowed*, weapons and armor fall into two categories: standard and Unique. Standard gear is common and can be found as loot or purchased from Merchants. Unique gear, however, consists of named, special items often obtained from Main or Side Quests, dropped by bosses or bounties, or occasionally sold by select Merchants.

Unique gear can be upgraded to Legendary Quality, surpassing the Superb limit of standard items. Additionally, Unique items come with extra bonuses and perks, making them far superior. Therefore, it's advisable to prioritize upgrading Unique weapons and armor over standard gear. Use standard gear as temporary equipment between acquiring and upgrading Unique items, and consider selling or breaking them down for resources to further enhance your Unique gear.

And that’s how to upgrade weapons and armor in *Avowed*. Keep your gear sharp and your armor strong to conquer the challenges ahead!
