Slaying monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds is thrilling, but capturing them is key to acquiring all those valuable monster parts for crafting superior armor. This requires Trap Tools, and acquiring them isn't always obvious. Here's how to get your hands on them.

Monster Hunter Wilds doesn't explicitly guide you to Trap Tools, but for veterans of the series, it'll feel familiar.

Your primary source for Trap Tools is the Provisions Stockpiler NPC at your Base Camp. Simply chat with him and browse his inventory. Each Trap Tool costs 200 Zenny. Stocking up is highly recommended, especially if you're focused on farming specific monsters or aiming for a complete collection.

Currently, purchasing from the Base Camp is the only way to obtain Trap Tools; they aren't found as environmental resources.

How to Use Trap Tools

With your Trap Tools acquired, it's time to strategize. Combine them with a Net (using Spiderweb or Ivy) to create a Pitfall Trap, or with a Thunderbug Capacitor to craft a Shock Trap.

While both trap types are effective, remember that certain monsters are immune to specific traps. For example, don't expect a Shock Trap to faze Rey Dau—a lightning dragon isn't easily shocked! In such cases, a Pitfall Trap is your best bet.

Also, note that you can only carry one trap at a time. Use them wisely, targeting weakened monsters for optimal results.
