Dune: Awakening Patch Enhances Server Stability
Dune: Awakening experienced a brief downtime earlier today as Funcom rolled out a hotfix aimed at enhancing server stability and resolving several issues that emerged following the game’s "head start" launch for early access players on June 5.
The primary focus of the update was improving server performance, though specific technical details were not disclosed. Additionally, a new pop-up notification has been implemented: when selecting the "Private" tab in the server browser, players will now be clearly informed that private servers are externally managed. (For a full breakdown of what’s included—and what’s not—with private server rentals, we’ve got all the details).
Here’s a look at the additional fixes included in the patch:Dune: Awakening – June 6 Hotfix 11.0.5 Patch Notes
- Resolved an issue where the menu for certain player base placeables would fail to load when switching rapidly between tabs using the Q and E keys.
- Fixed a problem that occasionally directed players to a non-optimal server, rather than the closest available one in their region.
- Addressed an issue trapping players in the Imperial Testing Station #002 boss room by removing the pentashield doors.
- Corrected a bug causing NPCs in the Arrakeen social hub to become immobilized in certain locations.
Funcom noted that while some fixes are applied immediately, others may require scheduled downtime. Players are advised to monitor in-game service alerts for updates.
While we haven’t published a full review of Dune: Awakening yet, we previously shared in-depth impressions from the closed beta. “As a longtime fan of Dune, it feels incredibly rewarding to explore and immerse myself in a universe I deeply admire. Funcom has invested heavily in worldbuilding and lore, even while taking creative liberties by setting Awakening in a parallel canon distinct from the original books and films,” we noted in IGN's Dune: Awakening closed beta impressions preview.
“The small, thoughtful details significantly impact gameplay. Without spoiling anything, this level of care extends across the entire experience—from the factions you encounter to the characters you interact with—making it a compelling journey for any Dune enthusiast.”
As for player response, the survival MMO hasn’t officially launched, yet it has already achieved a peak concurrent player count of nearly 100,000 on Steam.
