Hazelight Games announced that their latest cooperative adventure game, Split Fiction, has continued its impressive launch by selling 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game featuring a dual-protagonist narrative quickly established itself as another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they were "blown away" by the enthusiastic support from both new and returning fans.

In an earlier update, Hazelight revealed that Split Fiction reached 1 million players in just 48 hours after its launch, showcasing the rapid popularity of Mio and Zoe's sci-fi adventure. This means an additional million copies were sold in the subsequent five days.

Given that Split Fiction is designed as a co-op game, the total number of players enjoying the experience is likely much higher than the sales figures suggest. The game's Friend's Pass feature further amplifies its reach, allowing one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play for free. As the buzz around Split Fiction continues to grow on social media, the sales numbers are expected to climb even higher.

Hazelight's previous title, 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar trajectory, selling around 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021. By February 2023, sales had surged to 10 million copies, and by October 2024, the game had reached an impressive 20 million copies sold.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay.
