Possible Revival of Scalebound Development?

Scalebound, a once highly anticipated Xbox One exclusive, captivated gamers with its promise of dynamic combat, captivating music, and a unique dragon companion system. However, this ambitious project, announced in 2014, ultimately fell victim to cancellation in 2017.

Recently, a nostalgic video surfaced on Clover's Inc.'s official X account. The footage showcased Hideki Kamiya and his team revisiting archived Scalebound gameplay. Kamiya expressed pride in the game's development, despite its unfinished state, adding a poignant tweet: "Come on, Phil, let's do this!" This message, directed at Xbox head Phil Spencer, reignited speculation about a potential revival.

This isn't a new sentiment for Kamiya; he previously voiced his interest in resuming development in early 2022. While rumors of a Scalebound reboot intensified in early 2023, Microsoft remained officially silent. Phil Spencer himself, when questioned by Game Watch, offered only a cryptic smile and a "no comment."

Even with renewed interest, a swift return is unlikely. Kamiya and Clover's Inc. are currently focused on a new Okami installment. Any Scalebound revival would depend on Xbox's approval and would only commence after the completion of their current project. Despite the years of silence, the persistent hope remains that players may one day experience the game's long-awaited release.
