Rainbow Six Siege Update: Major Evolution Unveiled
Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege X: A Major Update, Not a New Game
Ubisoft recently unveiled Rainbow Six Siege X, not as a new game, but as a significant upgrade to the existing Rainbow Six Siege. This announcement, made on February 17, 2025, precedes the game's 10th anniversary. A dedicated showcase is planned for March 13, 2025, at 10:00 am PDT / 1:00 pm EDT in Atlanta, Georgia.
The March 2025 Showcase
The March showcase promises a deep dive into the substantial gameplay improvements and refinements included in Siege X. Ubisoft describes the event as an immersive experience for players, creators, and developers alike. In-person attendance requires a $10 ticket, including a commemorative shirt and in-game cosmetic items. Eligibility is restricted to legal residents of the USA and Canada, aged 18 or older, with an active, unbanned Rainbow Six Siege account.
A VIP package giveaway, including travel and accommodation, is also available for two lucky fans from the USA and Canada.
Siege X boasts "new ways to play, enhanced tactical gameplay, refined game feel, and major overall upgrades," though specifics remain under wraps until the showcase.
Rainbow Six Siege's 10th Anniversary and Season 10
Originally launched December 1, 2015, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC (later ported to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S), Rainbow Six Siege has enjoyed a long run as a live-service title. The upcoming update is poised to extend its lifespan significantly.
Ubisoft's February 17th Steam post also revealed upcoming content: a new operator, Aurora (with deployable bulletproof doors); a new elite skin for Aruni; and a revamped reputation system. These additions will debut in Season 10, Operation Prep Phase, on March 4, 2025, to celebrate the game's 10th anniversary.
Given the timing, the major Siege X upgrades will likely be implemented on live servers after the March showcase.
