Nintendo is gearing up to combat potential Switch 2 launch shortages and thwart scalpers, stating that "We are making preparations." Following the release of its latest financial report, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa addressed concerns about a repeat of the original Switch's 2017 launch shortages.

He confirmed to Nikkei, as translated by VGC, that Nintendo is implementing comprehensive strategies based on past experience to counter scalping and supply constraints. "We will take all possible measures...We are making preparations," Furukawa stated.

These preparations likely involve significantly increasing Switch 2 production. Nintendo previously emphasized robust manufacturing as crucial to outmaneuvering scalpers. The initial Switch launch in March 2017 suffered from limited supply, driving up prices due to scalping. However, Furukawa assured consumers that the Switch 2 launch will be different.

He reiterated Nintendo's commitment to meeting consumer demand to prevent scalping, stating, "the most important thing is to produce a sufficient number to meet customer demand." He also noted that the semiconductor shortages that hampered Switch production in previous years have been resolved.

A Switch 2 Direct is scheduled for April 2nd, promising further details. Additionally, Switch 2 hands-on events will be held globally.

Addressing the recent decline in Switch sales, Furukawa downplayed the impact of consumers waiting for the Switch 2, asserting that it wasn't a significant factor. He confirmed continued support for the original Switch "as long as there is demand," with Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond slated for 2025 release.
