Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update Adds New Game Plus and More
Team Ninja has unleashed a substantial update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, boosting it to version 1.0.7.0 and introducing highly anticipated features like New Game Plus and Photo Mode.
This patch, promised in January to address player feedback, is now live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam & Microsoft Store).
New Game Plus allows players to restart their adventure on any previously completed difficulty level, retaining previously acquired weapons and Ninpo. These items will reset to level 1, and players cannot directly select a higher difficulty using this feature.
A significant quality-of-life improvement lets players toggle the visibility of their projectile weapon on their back via the Options > Game Settings menu.
Balance adjustments include HP reductions for enemies in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and damage buffs to some of Ayane's attacks.
Numerous bug fixes are also included, addressing high-performance PC issues, game-breaking glitches in specific chapters, and more. Detailed patch notes are provided below.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a surprise release during January's Xbox Developer Direct, is an Unreal Engine 5-powered revamp of the classic action title. This version boasts enhanced visuals, new playable characters, and improved combat mechanics. IGN's 8/10 review praised the game's visual upgrade but noted that fewer, tougher enemies might prevent it from being the definitive version.
