MultiVersus presented two last characters while fans threaten game developers

MultiVersus's story is a cautionary tale for the gaming industry, akin to the infamous Concord debacle. Despite its impending closure, the game's final chapter will feature two highly anticipated characters: Lola Bunny and Aquaman.

This announcement follows considerable fan backlash, with some resorting to threats against the development team. In response, MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh issued a heartfelt plea for civility, urging players to refrain from targeting the team with threats.

Huynh apologized to fans whose desired characters didn't make it into the game, expressing hope that they'll enjoy the final Season 5 content. He explained that character selection is a complex process influenced by numerous factors, and his personal control over these decisions was less than some fans perceived.

The shutdown announcement also ignited frustration among players unable to spend their in-game tokens on the promised new characters—a perk for buyers of the $100 edition. This unmet promise may have contributed to the escalating threats.
