Mastering Great Sword Combos

Effective combo usage is crucial for maximizing damage. Here are some key combos:

True Charged Slash Combo

(Triangle/Y x3): Overhead Slash → Strong Charged Slash → True Charged Slash. Charging each attack (holding the button) increases damage. Hitting a weak point with the True Charged Slash triggers the True Charged Slash (Power) for even greater damage. A shortcut involves dodging after the True Charged Slash Combo and immediately pressing Triangle/Y for a Tackle, skipping the Overhead Slash and transitioning directly to the Strong Charged Slash.

Forward Lunging Combo

(Circle/B x3): Wide Slash → Tackle → Leaping Wide Slash. Ideal for covering ground and attacking less accessible targets. Using Focus Mode enhances accuracy and damage against weak points.

Stationary Combo

(Circle/B + Triangle/Y x2): Wide Slash → Rising Slash (repeated twice). A quicker, albeit less damaging, combo useful against paralyzed monsters.

Offset Rising Slash Counter

Holding Triangle/Y + Circle/B and releasing at the precise moment a monster attacks knocks it down, allowing a follow-up Cross Slash (Triangle/Y). Mastering the timing is key.

Guarding and Perfect Guards

Holding R2/RT guards against attacks, consuming stamina. A perfectly timed guard (Perfect Guard) negates all damage and can sometimes lead to a Power Clash (mash Circle/B to win and knock down the monster).
