Marvel Rivals players will start getting banned on consoles for using the keyboard and mouse
NetEase Games has announced a ban on keyboard and mouse adapters in Marvel Rivals on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. The use of adapters like XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad input from a keyboard and mouse, is considered a violation of the game's terms of service. This is due to the unfair competitive advantage provided by increased precision and aiming assistance.
NetEase employs sophisticated detection tools to identify adapter usage with high accuracy, resulting in account suspension upon detection. The company stated that these adapters create an uneven playing field, particularly in competitive game modes.
Separately, the game has also been reported to exhibit a correlation between higher FPS and increased ping. While this may be less noticeable with low ping, a jump from, for example, 90ms to 150ms can significantly impact gameplay. The cause appears linked to frame rate. Currently, players are advised to wait for a game patch and experiment to find an optimal FPS/ping balance. Some players suggest maintaining an FPS around 90 as a temporary solution, although this may differ from optimal settings in other games.
