Ruffalo's Hulk to Return in New MCU Spider-Man Film

Exciting news from the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Mark Ruffalo's Hulk is reportedly making a comeback in next year’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Per a report in The Hollywood Reporter — which both Sony and Marvel have declined to comment on — Ruffalo will return as Bruce Banner for the highly anticipated 2026 superhero sequel.

In addition, Michael Mando is said to be reprising his role as the supervillain Mac Gargan, also known as the Scorpion, in Brand New Day. The character was last seen in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, the first Tom Holland-led Spider-Man film.

Ruffalo last portrayed the Hulk in the 2022 Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, a follow-up to which now seems unlikely. Notably, Ruffalo was not included in the initial cast list for Avengers: Doomsday, though Marvel has hinted at more announcements to come, leaving the door open for the Hulk's potential appearance.

As production gears up, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is beginning to reveal its form. Today, on August 1, Sony dropped the film's first teaser, which offered an eight-second close-up look at Spider-Man's brand-new suit.

The teaser launch and the Hulk casting news arrive alongside set photos showing an armored truck, which seems to confirm the involvement of a classic Spider-Man villain in the new film.
