Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Surpasses 200,000 Units Sold, Proving a Resurgence of Interest in the Classic Action Title

Released late last year, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has exceeded expectations, recently surpassing 200,000 units sold. This success comes despite initial launch challenges, including technical issues and some controversy surrounding content changes. The strong sales figures clearly demonstrate significant player demand.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), Lollipop Chainsaw is a vibrant action hack-and-slash game. Players control Juliet Starling, a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader battling a zombie apocalypse. While the remaster was handled by Dragami Games, introducing quality-of-life improvements and a visual upgrade, the core gameplay remains true to the original.

The 200,000 sales milestone, achieved across current and last-gen consoles, as well as PC, was announced by Dragami Games via a recent tweet. This marks a considerable achievement several months after the September 2024 release.

Celebrating Success: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Sales Triumph

Lollipop Chainsaw follows Juliet Starling as she uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage amidst a school overrun by the undead. The fast-paced, hack-and-slash combat, utilizing Juliet's trusty chainsaw, draws comparisons to titles like Bayonetta.

While the original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success (selling over one million units), the RePOP version's performance is noteworthy. The original game benefited from a unique collaboration between Goichi Suda and James Gunn, a partnership that likely contributed significantly to its initial popularity.

Currently, there's no official word on future content or a potential sequel for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP. However, its success bodes well for remasters of other cult classic games. This positive trend is further highlighted by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, another Grasshopper Manufacture title updated for modern platforms.
