Rey Dau is the first dragon monster you'll encounter in Monster Hunter Wilds. This creature wields the lightning element, rendering it immune to it. However, it's notably vulnerable to other elements, especially water and ice. The optimal target for your attacks is its head, which has a 4-star weakness. The wings are another viable target with a 3-star weakness.

It's advisable to steer clear of its torso due to its resilience. If hitting the head proves challenging, aim for the tail instead. The legs are less ideal as they are well-protected. For status ailments, you can utilize all except Stun and Paralysis, as attempting to stun a lightning-based dragon would be futile.

Use a Flash Pod

A key strategy to swiftly defeat Rey Dau is deploying a Flash Pod. This tool will temporarily stun the monster, providing an opportunity to land precise hits. When the dragon unleashes its lightning attack, seize the moment to strike its horn, inflicting significant damage. Don't forget to activate Focus Mode to spot the horns glowing bright red.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

Surviving the battle can be tough, so equip gear that enhances your resistance to elements. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill, is excellent for reducing damage. It also offers resistance against Lightning and Fire damage, making it perfect for this fight. Consider consuming a meal that boosts your elemental resistance as well.

If dodging proves difficult, position yourself near Rey Dau's legs in Monster Hunter Wilds. The monster primarily attacks the areas directly in front of and behind it. Staying close to its legs minimizes the chances of being hit.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau frequently shifts locations during the battle. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps on the lone tree to temporarily stun the monster. However, exercise caution when the dragon retreats to its nest, as it follows up with a lightning attack that can easily stun you. Avoid rushing your attacks in this area to prevent being electrocuted.

Apart from battling Rey Dau to the death, you can also earn rewards by capturing it in Monster Hunter Wilds. To capture the dragon, reduce its health until it's on the brink of death. Monitor the mini-map for the skull icon next to the monster's icon. Once it appears, deploy a trap to ensnare the creature.

Given Rey Dau's lightning affinity, Shock Traps are ineffective. Opt for a Pitfall Trap for a successful capture. Follow up with a Tranquilizer to prevent the dragon from escaping. You only have a brief window to act, so be prepared.
