Epic Collision: Spider-Man Battles Godzilla for Supremacy

Get ready for a colossal clash! Marvel Comics is unleashing a series of one-shot Godzilla crossovers, and the next epic battle is revealed: Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1.

Following the previously released Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, this new installment transports readers back to a retro setting. The story unfolds in the aftermath of 1984's Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, shortly after Peter Parker's return from Battleworld and his initial struggles with the alien symbiote. This time, Spidey's enhanced strength will be put to the ultimate test against the King of the Monsters.

Joe Kelly, recently announced as the writer for the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man relaunch, pens the script for Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1. The art is handled by Nick Bradshaw (known for his work on Wolverine and the X-Men), with cover art contributions from Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land.

"The moment I heard about a '80s-set Godzilla/Spidey crossover, I practically jumped across the table to claim it," Kelly shared with IGN. "This comic is a chance to go all-out with two iconic characters, capturing the chaotic energy of the era I actively collected Spider-Man comics. Nick Bradshaw perfectly embodies the absurdity of the concept and the atmosphere I envisioned, while simultaneously lending Godzilla and Spidey (in his perfectly normal, not-at-all-suspicious black suit!) the gravitas they deserve. It's a love letter delivered with an earth-shattering roar!"

This isn't the first time Godzilla has faced Western superheroes. DC's Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (with a sequel in the works) featured the MonsterVerse versions of the titans. However, Marvel's series showcases the classic Toho Godzilla.

This announcement follows the unveiling of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, an anthology comic donating proceeds to wildfire relief.
