Elden Ring Nightreign will not feature poisonous swamps
Elden Ring Nightreign, the upcoming cooperative action title, will notably omit the signature poisonous swamps found in many FromSoftware games. This revelation comes from product manager Yasuhiro Kitao, who confirmed the absence in recent press interviews.
While a swamp-like area was featured in the trailer, Kitao clarified it's a distinct location. The omission, he explained, is directly linked to the absence of Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoftware's president and a known enthusiast of swamp environments, from the Nightreign development team. Miyazaki's influence is evident in the swamp locales of both Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series.

Interestingly, the possibility of a two-player mode remains open. Currently, only single-player and three-player modes are confirmed, with initial exclusion attributed to content balancing difficulties. FromSoftware is actively considering adding a two-player option, but a final decision is pending.
Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, across PC and current and next-generation consoles.
