First, complete the Shu campaign. This unlocks the ability to replay stages, and you'll notice a golden banner next to "The Battle of Changban." This signifies an alternate path to the true ending.

Normally, this stage involves helping Liu Bei escape while Zhang Fei holds off Cao Cao's forces. However, for the true ending, you must defeat Cao Cao himself. This is a challenging feat, requiring you to overcome Cao Cao's army almost single-handedly, embodying the series' iconic "1 vs. 1000" battles.

To increase your chances of success, consider these strategies:

• Lower the difficulty to Historian mode: This makes the battle more manageable, especially given the sheer number of enemies.
• Choose Zhang Fei as your partner: Starting closer to Cao Cao's army saves valuable time.
• Manage your Musou Rage: Be ready to unleash its power when Cao Cao deploys his Grand Tactics (one requiring two officer kills, the other 250 soldiers). A weapon like twin pikes can be effective for clearing out large numbers of soldiers.

Once Cao Cao is defeated, complete the remaining missions to witness the Shu true ending.
