"Dune: Awakening Open Beta Reveals PvP Exploit"
Dune: Awakening has just concluded its open beta weekend, and during this period, fans uncovered a significant exploit that could stun enemies indefinitely in PvP. This article dives into the details of this game-breaking issue and outlines Funcom's plans to address it before the game's full launch.
Players Discover Game-Breaking Stunlock Exploit
During the Dune: Awakening open beta weekend, players had access to the first 20-25 hours of gameplay along with other features. It was during the Global LAN Party livestream on May 10 that an exploit allowing players to stun their opponents indefinitely in PvP was discovered.
The "stunlock exploit" occurs when a player repeatedly uses quick knife attacks on an opponent with zero stamina. This leaves the target unable to defend themselves, use abilities, or escape, resulting in a perpetual stagger state. This issue gained widespread attention after being showcased during livestreams by popular streamers Tyler1 and Shroud.
Funcom Promises Fix Before Launch
During the Global LAN Party livestream, Funcom developers, including Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley, witnessed the stunlock exploit firsthand. They quickly assured the community that this issue would be resolved before the game's official release.
Gagné stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." With the open beta now concluded, the developers have received valuable feedback and praise, which will help optimize the game ahead of its release.
Dune: Awakening is slated for release on June 10, 2025, for PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions to follow at a later, yet-to-be-announced date. Stay updated with the latest news on the game by checking out our related articles below!
