Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, recently showcased their upcoming open-world dark fantasy action RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, at a game reveal event. This narrative-driven title promises a unique blend of action and story, set in the fictional 14th-century European land of Vale Sangora.

Meet Coen, the Dawnwalker

Players will embody Coen, a Dawnwalker – a being existing between human and vampire – whose life is a constant struggle against the encroaching darkness. Narrative director Jakub Szamalek describes Coen as a relatable, emotionally vulnerable protagonist, a departure from typical game heroes. Coen's journey begins with a race against time – 30 days and nights – to save his family from the tyrannical vampire Brencis, who has plunged Vale Sangora into chaos. While the game features a time constraint, developers emphasize that gameplay hours will be substantial. The reveal trailer showcases Coen's unique abilities, hinting at vampiric powers and subtle magic.

A Narrative Sandbox with Subtle Magic

Responding to fan questions on their Discord server, Rebel Wolves clarified several aspects of the game's lore. Dawnwalkers are not simply hybrids; they represent a distinct entity. The magic system, while present, will be grounded and less overtly flashy than in typical fantasy settings, focusing on occult practices, rituals, and artifacts rather than spectacular spellcasting.

A Nonlinear World and Choices that Matter

The Blood of Dawnwalker is designed as a "narrative sandbox," prioritizing player agency and freedom. The game's nonlinear structure allows for multiple approaches to the central quest, with the world dynamically responding to player choices.
