Crunchyroll Releases Kardboard Kings, a Card Shop and Collector Simulator
Crunchyroll's Android app now features Kardboard Kings, a captivating single-player card shop management game. Originally launched on PC in February 2022, this title from Henry's House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross (published by Akupara Games) has made its way to consoles and now mobile devices via Crunchyroll. Best of all, it's free for Crunchyroll members!
The Kardboard Kings Experience:
Step into the shoes of Harry Hsu, inheriting his father's card shop – a legacy steeped in the legendary card game, Warlock. With Giuseppe, a shrewd cockatoo business partner, by his side, Harry navigates the exciting world of card buying, selling, and trading.
Located in a picturesque seaside setting, Harry must satisfy customers while juggling the challenges of the business. For the more cunning player, there's even the option of pulling a fast one on customers for extra profit.
The game boasts charming characters with witty dialogue, referencing other card games and anime. Over 100 unique cards, each with quirky illustrations and shiny variants, add to the visual appeal.
Gameplay Mechanics:
The core gameplay is simple: buy low, sell high, and profit. However, the depth increases as card conditions and set rarities fluctuate. Factors such as foil finishes and card popularity directly impact value.
Kardboard Kings also includes a roguelite deckbuilding mode on Card Game Island. Here, players face challenging duelists, organize tournaments, host booster pack parties, and manage clearance sales to keep inventory fresh.
Download Kardboard Kings now from the Google Play Store if you're a Crunchyroll member. Don't forget to check out our other article on the linguistic puzzles in LOK Digital!
