Crafting and Using Gems in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Guide

Quick Links

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, enhancing your character's strength can significantly elevate your gameplay, especially on higher difficulties. One effective way to achieve this is through the use of Gems, which provide passive buffs when equipped. These gems not only add versatility to your character but also allow for strategic customization based on your playstyle.

Crafting new gems and upgrading existing ones is integral to maximizing their potential, though the process involves a degree of randomness. Below, you'll find a detailed guide on how to craft and level up gems, as well as tips to increase your chances of obtaining specific gems.

How To Craft & Level Up Gems In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Gem crafting in Dynasty Warriors: Origins utilizes Pyroxene, and can be accessed at any Inn or tent. When in your room, select the "Create Gems" option, which is the second from the top. Here, you can use as much Pyroxene as you wish, with each piece used crafting a gem at a one-to-one ratio. There are five types of gems you can craft, and each Pyroxene has an equal chance of producing any of these gems.

Upon crafting a base gem, it starts at level 1 and can be equipped through the Battle Preparations menu. Subsequent crafts of the same gem type contribute XP to the base gem, gradually leveling it up and enhancing its effectiveness. If you're not focused on specific gems, it's beneficial to use all your Pyroxene at once to craft multiple gems, thereby upgrading them randomly across the board.

For players interested in particular gems, there's a feature called "Eyes of the Sacred Bird." This activates randomly when crafting a single gem, limiting the types of gems that can be crafted with the Pyroxene used to three specific options. You can cancel this effect by exiting and re-entering the gem crafting menu. Crafting one gem at a time might be tedious, but it can be a strategic move to trigger Eyes of the Sacred Bird for your desired gem.

While Eyes of the Sacred Bird helps manage the randomness of gem crafting, it doesn't eliminate it entirely.

Here's a list of the five gems you can craft, along with their passive boosts:

Gem NamePassive Boost
Oblivion GemExpands attack range.
Vortex GemBoosts damage to enemies launched into the air.
Scorch GemBoosts damage dealt to enemies with parries.
Wellspring GemRestores health for every 100 enemies defeated.
Ascendance GemActivates a chance to automatically block an attack from an enemy officer.

Where To Get Pyroxene In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Pyroxene, essential for gem crafting, can be found scattered throughout the game's overworld as orange crystals protruding from the ground. Interacting with these crystals will yield one Pyroxene and cause the crystal to disappear. After completing Skirmishes or Battles, some Pyroxene will respawn on the overworld map, encouraging you to revisit and explore previously cleared areas. Additionally, you might occasionally receive Pyroxene from letters, which can be read in your room at an Inn or tent.
