The location? The claustrophobic 42 Edgefield Road. Its narrow hallways and blind corners make tracking and evading the ghost a truly harrowing experience.

This challenge throws you in at the deep end. Forget your usual evidence-gathering tools; Ghost Writing Books, DOTs Projectors, even Video Cameras are absent.

Instead, rely on behavioral clues: movement speed, ghost model, and unique traits. Your limited equipment can help. The Parabolic Microphone might pick up a Banshee's scream or a Myling's frequent noises. Salt reveals Wraiths, and three consecutive Firelights might expose an Onyro. Struggling? Prepare for immediate danger: you start with zero sanity and no setup time (a generous five seconds, technically). Those two Sanity Medications are a cruel joke; sanity can't be restored. Expect frequent, high-activity ghost events, but remember the ghost's favorite room remains constant.

Most doors start ajar, hindering location detection, but the fuse box is conveniently on. Utilize the nine available hiding spots for survival during hunts.

Your only Cursed Possession? The Monkey Paw. Risky, especially solo, but "wishing for knowledge" burns incorrect evidence and ghost types from your Journal. The trade-off? Temporary blindness, deafness, and a nearby Cursed Hunt. Consider this a high-risk, high-reward strategy, especially for groups where one player can act as a sacrificial lamb.

How to Access Challenge Mode in Phasmophobia

Challenge Mode is found in the Main Menu's Difficulty Settings. Select Singleplayer or Multiplayer to create a lobby, then navigate to the Difficulty tab. Find Challenge Mode and select 'Apply'. Remember to choose 42 Edgefield Road from the Maps board—Challenge Mode doesn't automatically select the map. Complete the investigation three times for the full $5,000 reward (correct ghost identification is all that's required).
