How to Capture Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds
Slaying monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is a thrill, but capturing them is essential if you want to collect all their valuable parts. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to capture monsters effectively in the game.
Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds
Capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is straightforward yet requires strategic timing. The key steps are to weaken the monster, trap it, and then use a Tranq item to secure the capture. Sounds simple, right?
First, you need to weaken the monster. Your trusty Palico will alert you when a monster is vulnerable. Additionally, keep an eye out for other indicators such as a skull icon appearing over the monster on your minimap, and signs of weakness like limping or drooling, which show that the monster's HP is low.
Once the monster is weakened, it's time to set your trap. You can choose between a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap. Place the trap on the ground and lure the monster into it. When the monster steps onto the trap, it will be immobilized for a brief period, giving you the perfect opportunity to use Tranq Bombs. Typically, one or two Tranq Bombs will suffice to capture the monster. Alternatively, depending on your weapon and play style, you can use Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades.
Successfully capturing a monster will conclude the quest and return you to Base Camp.
How to Get Traps and Tranq Items
While your Palico may occasionally set traps for you, it's wise to come prepared with your own. There are two types of traps available: Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps. Crafting a Pitfall Trap requires a Trap Tool and a Net, which can be sourced from Spiderwebs or Ivy. For a Shock Trap, you'll need a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.
To craft Tranq items, combine a Sleep Herb with a Parashroom to make a Tranq Bomb. These can further be combined with Throwing Knives to create Tranq Blades, or with Normal Ammo to produce Tranq Ammo.
