Blizzard is incapable of running their own game: Diablo 3 event cannot be extended

Diablo 3's beloved "Fall of Tristram" event is set to conclude on February 1, but many in the community have expressed a desire for it to remain a permanent fixture in the game. In response, community manager pezradar addressed these hopes, stating that extending the event is currently not feasible due to technical limitations. "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes," pezradar explained.

In addition to the event news, pezradar also touched on the delay of Diablo 3's Season 34 of Call of Light, which has disrupted weekend plans for some players. "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time. The team needs to create new code to ensure a smooth transition between seasons after problems with the automatic scheduler that ended [last 33rd] season early in early January," pezradar said. The delay will allow the team to implement and test new code to ensure a seamless transfer of player progress. "We can improve communication with players at earlier stages, and the team is aware of this for the future," pezradar added, acknowledging the need for better communication.

In other gaming news, Wolcen Studio recently announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing for Project Pantheon will commence on January 25 for players in Europe, with North American players joining on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete described the game as a blend of the tension and risk-reward mechanics found in extraction shooters with the dynamic combat of role-playing games. "Diablo and Escape from Tarkov seem to have a parenthood. We are eager to hear from the players," Cirkulete said. In the game, players will assume the role of a messenger of Death, working to restore order in a shattered world.
