Application Description
High-Quality USB Camera Viewer & HDMI Display
To transform your device into a portable display for a camera, gaming console, laptop, PC, or any other device with HDMI output, you'll need an HDMI to USB C dongle, often referred to as a UVC capture device or Video Capture Card. Note that this is different from a USB C hub or a USB C to HDMI cable.
Devices such as cameras, endoscopes, and microscopes that support USB streaming are also compatible with this setup.
Noir supports both UVC video streaming and UAC audio streaming, and offers a choice between OpenGL ES and Vulkan for the graphics backend. The free version provides basic functions and an immersive experience, albeit with ads (though these are not present in the preview). For enhanced features and to support ongoing development and maintenance, consider purchasing the pro version of Noir.

FAQ
- Why doesn't Noir recognize my device? Possible reasons include your phone or tablet not supporting USB Host (OTG) or the device not being a Video Capture Card. In some cases, additional power might be needed, requiring a USB hub.
- Why is the preview so laggy? This is often due to the USB version. Ensure that both your USB data cable and the USB port on your device are USB 3.0 if using a USB 3.0 capture card. For USB 2.0 capture cards, use MJPEG format and stay within 1080p30fps specifications.
- Why did my capture card, which was working fine, suddenly fail to connect? This is often due to system issues. A simple restart of your phone or tablet can resolve this.
- Why does my gaming console or Video playback device show a black screen when connected? This issue is common with PS5 and PS4 due to HDCP being enabled. Disable HDCP in the PS console settings. For other devices, some HDMI splitters can bypass HDCP, but this is not recommended here.
- Why are resolutions other than 16:9 and 4:3 not supported? Current capture cards do not support other ratios. Use Noir's Stretch feature to adjust, ensuring your capture card's EDID supports the desired ratio.
