Xbox Games Series Tier List

Microsoft's Xbox Developer Direct has generated considerable excitement for the future of Xbox and its first-party studios. But which Xbox game franchises resonate most strongly with players? Which delivered the most enjoyment during the Xbox 360 era? And for those unfamiliar with Xbox, which titles are most anticipated on other platforms like PlayStation, given Microsoft's apparent commitment to broader game availability?

Numerous legendary game series are contenders (especially considering Microsoft's acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard). This tier list encompasses franchises associated with Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard, provided they have multiple entries – apologies to MachineGames' Indiana Jones! A sequel would certainly warrant inclusion. Note that this isn't an exhaustive list of every Xbox game series, but aims to represent current relevance and historical significance.

Here's a personal tier list based on years of gameplay experience:

Simon Cardy's Xbox Games Series Tier List

Doom easily earns an S-tier ranking. Recent entries are among my favorite first-person shooters, and Doom: The Dark Ages suggests id Software's continued excellence. Forza Horizon also receives an S-tier placement; arguably, outside of Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge, they're the best racing games I've played. The A-tier placement of Halo might be controversial. While Halo 2 and 3 boast exceptional campaigns, recent inconsistencies prevent a higher ranking. Personally, I'm a bigger Fallout fan than Elder Scrolls – power armor over dragons, any day!

Disagree? Believe Gears of War is Xbox's finest? A staunch defender of Fuzion Frenzy? Feel free to create your own tier list, comparing your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the broader IGN community.
