"Xbox Game Pass: Unbeatable Value for RPG Enthusiasts"

Author : Sebastian Update : May 04,2025

As someone who transitioned from dabbling with Xbox to fully embracing PC gaming, I've relied heavily on Steam sales for my gaming fix. Game Pass never seemed like a necessity for me, given its offerings, until a surprising twist yesterday. Bethesda and Virtuos unexpectedly released the remastered version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion directly onto Game Pass. Although it was a poorly kept secret, the announcement was still a thrilling reveal. Adding to the excitement, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the visually striking debut from Sandfall Interactive, inspired by JRPG classics, is set to join the service tomorrow. As a fervent RPG enthusiast, I must concede: Microsoft, you've finally won me over.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was unveiled and launched on PC, consoles, and Game Pass on April 22. Like many, I spent the day downloading the game and the night immersing myself in its captivating music. The remaster features significant updates including new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and revamped visual effects. Despite bringing in over five new voice actors, Virtuos managed to retain the charm of the original's quirky dialogue. The base version of the remaster is priced at $49.99, including the original DLCs, with a deluxe edition available for an additional $10.

The game's sleek UI evokes the Persona series, and early gameplay footage showcases a remarkably innovative turn-based combat system. Priced at $49.99, it matches the cost of the Bethesda remaster.

While Expedition 33 was positioned as the highlight of April’s Game Pass lineup, the unexpected release of Oblivion Remastered has cast a slight shadow over the indie game's debut. However, I see it as an opportunity to enjoy two exceptional games at a fraction of the cost. Instead of shelling out $100 for both new titles, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only challenge is finding time to step away from the screen.

PlayNumerous major releases of 2025 have recently joined the service, including Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed, alongside perennial favorites like GTA V and the entire Call of Duty series. It truly seems there's something for everyone on Game Pass.

Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now

Game Pass Ultimate, starting at $19.99 per month, grants access to the entire Game Pass library across consoles, PCs, and cloud gaming. The PC-exclusive Game Pass is more affordable at $9.99 per month. The Standard and Core tiers, priced at $14.99 and $9.99 per month respectively, do not offer day-one releases. The last price increase for Game Pass occurred in July 2024, and given these recent game launches, another hike wouldn't be surprising later this year.

Currently, there are no live deals for Game Pass, but securing a three-month subscription might shield you from future price increases. For deals on other platforms, check out our comprehensive list of PS5, PC, and Switch offers. Speaking of, U.S. preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 go live tonight.
