Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Welcomes EA Sports UFC 5 and Diablo

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can now enjoy EA Sports UFC 5 and Diablo, added to the service today, January 14th. These two titles, released nearly 27 years apart, mark the conclusion of Wave 1's January 2025 additions to the XGP lineup.

Diablo, a seminal hack-and-slash RPG released in late 1996, needs little introduction. UFC 5, the latest installment in EA Sports' MMA franchise, launched in October 2023. This pairing showcases the diverse range of titles available on XGP Ultimate.

While Microsoft aims for cross-platform availability, these additions are platform-specific: Diablo is PC-only, and EA Sports UFC 5 requires an Xbox Series X/S for local play. However, Ultimate subscribers with sufficient internet speed can stream UFC 5 via Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Activision Blizzard Titles on Xbox Game Pass

With Diablo's addition, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate now boasts 13 Activision Blizzard titles (counting Spyro and Crash trilogies as three games each). This represents a steady influx of approximately one new title per month since Microsoft's acquisition in late 2023, indicating an accelerating release pace.

EA Sports UFC 5 and Diablo complete Wave 1 of January's XGP additions. Wave 2 is anticipated soon, potentially on January 21st, aligning with Microsoft's usual Tuesday announcements.

Further announcements are expected before month's end, given the January 23rd Xbox Developer Direct, which will showcase Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, South of Midnight, and Doom: The Dark Ages—all confirmed as day-one XGP Ultimate titles slated for 2025. Note that six games will leave the service on January 15th, including Insurgency: Sandstorm and Those Who Remain.
