"Unlocking the Deep Woods: A Guide for Fields of Mistria Players"

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been marked on the town map, but access was restricted until the game's March 2025 update. Here's a detailed guide on how to access the Deep Woods and find Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*.

How to Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Unlocking the Deep Woods requires breaking the Fire Seal and using the newly acquired Dragon’s Breath spell to clear the obstructing vines. To initiate this process, you must place four specific items on the Priestess' Fire Seal altar at Floor 60 in the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. These first three items can be found between floors 50 and 59. However, obtaining the Sealing Scroll requires collaboration with Juniper and Balor.

To secure the Sealing Scroll, you must leave the following items in the bin by Balor's wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

Once these items are deposited, speak with Balor again, and he will inform you that the Sealing Scroll will be available the next day. After collecting the scroll, you can proceed with the offering at the altar.

Typically, breaking a magic seal results in parting words from the mines' Priestess and the unlocking of a new biome. This time, however, the outcome deviates from the norm. The Priestess warns you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. As your health diminishes, Caldarus appears in his human form, rescuing you and retreating to his temple in the Deep Woods to regain his strength.

Caldarus requests that you find him at his temple and bestows upon you the Dragon’s Breath spell. This spell is crucial for burning away the vines that block the entrance to the Deep Woods. Equip Dragon’s Breath from the pause menu and activate it while standing in front of the entrance to permanently unlock the Deep Woods and other hidden areas on the map.

How to Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, navigate to Caldarus' temple within the Deep Woods, located north of the Eastern Road on your map. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to access this area. Caldarus' exact location is marked on your map, similar to other NPCs, and he can be found in the northeast corner of the Deep Woods.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods and immediately head right, using your axe to remove a stump blocking your path. Continue north until you arrive at the temple where Caldarus awaits inside.

Once the Deep Woods is unlocked, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to this area and visit Caldarus at any time for just 10 Essence. This method is far more efficient than traveling on foot or horseback.

You can also interact with Caldarus through his statue, maintaining a connection even when not in the Deep Woods.
