Troy Baker Voices Mystery-Solving Mouse in New Game
In an exciting debut trailer unveiled today at Summer Game Fest, fans got their first glimpse—and listen—of acclaimed voice actor Troy Baker in his newest and most unusual role yet: a crime-solving mouse in MOUSE: P.I. for Hire.
In MOUSE, Baker lends his voice to Jack Pepper, a former war hero turned private investigator—and yes, he’s a mouse. The story kicks off with a familiar noir trope: a mysterious dame walks into Jack’s office with a case that quickly spirals into a sprawling mystery filled with murder, corruption, and dark secrets buried within the city of Mouseburg.
MOUSE is a 3D first-person shooter that immediately captures attention with its distinctive cartoon aesthetic. Drawing heavy inspiration from 1930s noir cinema and classic hand-drawn animation, the game’s visual style brings to mind the retro charm of Cuphead, while delivering a fresh and immersive gameplay experience.
Troy Baker, whose iconic performances include Joel in The Last of Us, Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite, Sam Drake in Uncharted 4, Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Higgs Monaghan in Death Stranding and its upcoming sequel, brings depth and gravitas to this unexpected protagonist.
Developed by Fumi Games, MOUSE: P.I. for Hire is set to launch later this year on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC. With its unique art style, engaging narrative, and strong voice acting, it's shaping up to be one of the more original titles of the year.
