Team Ninja Teases 30th Anniversary Plans

Team Ninja's 30th Anniversary: Big Plans on the Horizon

Team Ninja, the Koei Tecmo subsidiary renowned for its action-packed titles like Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, has hinted at significant projects to commemorate its 30th anniversary in 2025. Beyond these flagship franchises, the studio has also garnered success with the soulslike RPGs Nioh and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, as well as collaborations with Square Enix (Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin). The recent release of Rise of the Ronin further showcases their diverse portfolio.

In a recent interview, Team Ninja's Fumihiko Yasuda alluded to upcoming releases designed to befitting of this milestone anniversary. While specifics remain undisclosed, anticipation is high amongst fans, with speculation centering on new entries in the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden series. Yasuda simply stated, "In 2025, Team Ninja will celebrate its 30th anniversary, and we hope to announce and release titles fitting for the occasion."

What Might 2025 Hold?

The anticipation is further fueled by the already announced Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, a side-scrolling revival slated for 2025. This new installment aims to recapture the classic 8-bit era gameplay while incorporating modern elements, bridging the gap between the series' retro roots and its 3D iterations. The last mainline Ninja Gaiden title, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z (2014), remains a point of contention among fans.

Meanwhile, the Dead or Alive franchise, last updated with Dead or Alive 6 in 2019, has seen only spin-offs in recent years. Many fans are hoping for a new mainline entry to mark Team Ninja's anniversary. The Nioh series also holds a special place in fans' hearts, leading to speculation of a potential announcement related to this successful soulslike franchise. 2025 promises to be an exciting year for Team Ninja and its dedicated fanbase.
